Amount of pain Low

Removal of the stitches The stitches do not need to be removed, since an absorbable surgical thread is used.

Bruises and swelling The incidence of bruises and swelling is minimal.

Scars The resulting scars are very small and, since the area heals very well, they become almost unnoticeable as time goes by.

Recovery You will have to rest for 24 hours, but you may walk around. You will be able to return gradually to your usual activities on the following days.
You will be able to have sexual intercourse again after the 21st day.

Possible risks and complications It is very unlikely for a labiaplasty to present any complications when performed by a qualified surgeon. However, every surgical procedure, regardless of its triviality, has some risks and we should always think of them as a possibility.

• Asymmetry.
• Adverse reactions to anesthesia.
• Infections, although they are very unusual if you take the right antibiotics.
• If bruises get too large, they may require drainage.
• Seromas, or fluid accumulation beneath the skin. In some cases, they may require to be drained with a syringe.
• Temporary alteration of the labia's sensibility. During some time, your labia may have less sensibility, more sensibility, or they may have a different sensibility altogether. This is not serious and it tends to go back to normal by itself.
