What does hymen restoration surgery do?

It restores virginity after the hymen has been ruptured. It can be performed soon after the rupture or much later. The hymen may rupture during rape, agreed intercourse, insertion of tampons, sports, falls, etc.
If the hymeneal remnants are not big enough to be used for the reconstruction or if you are one of those women who are born without a hymen, the surgeon can reduce the opening of the vagina using a small portion of the vaginal mucous tissue. During the first intercourse, there will be a small rupture of this newly reconstructed hymen that will be very similar to the rupture of a natural hymen.

Hospitalization: No hospitalization is needed. It is performed on an outpatient basis.
Anesthesia: The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, but mild oral sedation may also be prescribed if necessary.
Length: Four to six hours.

How is hymen restoration performed?

The surgeon will join again the hymeneal remnants with very small sutures. It will be necessary to make two small incisions on the edges of each fragment before joining them so that they will heal and constitute a unit. It may happen that no hymeneal remnants are available; this may be because they are too small or because you were born without a hymen. In these cases, the surgeon will reduce the vaginal opening using a small portion of the vaginal mucous tissue in order to shape a new hymen.
